Glamping … it’s another world!

I’ve never seen a tent with double glazing.  However, I HAVE stayed in a hotel and felt I was sleeping in the middle of a field!  Personal choice would dictate that you either like the great outdoors or you enjoy the reliable temperatures of a hotel.

However with a new product called the “Camping Snug” you can possibly have the best of both worlds!  It’s a wooden building which can be erected anywhere and it does have double glazed windows.  When you realise that it has to be carried to the field by a forklift truck though, the attraction diminishes.

Camping huts are more commonplace than ever.  There’s no canvas flapping to keep you awake, but there is a lockable door and above all double glazing on the windows.  It’s camping at the luxury end of the market.  As far as the traditional “tent-in-a-field” goes, cotton or polycotton tents are preferable for insulation over nylon or polyester.  They’re environmentally sound and keep you warmer by night.  There are also the camping caravans complete with gas central heating and also fully double glazed.  These truly are a home from home, if that’s what you’re looking for on your few weeks away.

The new craze though these days is known as “Glamping”.  It means “glamorous camping, with luxuries”.  New “Camping Pod sites” are popping up all over the country and provide sheep’s wool double glazing to keep you toasty and warm.  Keep an eye out for wigwams, tipis and yurts – it’s another world!

So, which would you prefer, to be at “one” with the elements by day and warm by night in a “hut” – or in a bricks and mortar hotel, complete with in house 4-star restaurant?
